Individual Donor Nucleic Acid Testing (ID-NAT) is an advanced screening test that detects viral infections like HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C at a much earlier stage compared to conventional methods.

  • Detects infections during the “window period” when other tests may miss.

  • Ensures safe blood transfusions and protects patient health.

Anyone concerned about possible exposure to infectious diseases or those recommended by their healthcare provider should consider ID NAT Testing. It’s a safe step towards understanding and managing your health.

  • For Blood Banks: Prevents transmission of infections through donated blood.

  • For Hospitals & Surgeons: Provides assurance of safe transfusions during surgery.

  • For Patients: Especially critical for cancer care, thalassemia, dialysis, and transplant cases where regular transfusions are required.

  • For Pre-operative Safety: Minimizes risk of infection during major surgeries.

ID-NAT (Individual Donor Nucleic Acid Testing) is the most accurate method for detecting HIV, HBV, and HCV in blood donors.

It shortens the “window period” significantly—HIV (5–7 days vs 20–25 days in serology), HCV (7–10 days vs 70+ days), and HBV (detects 20–25 days earlier than HBsAg).

Sensitivity is very high (5–50 IU/mL) with specificity >99.9%. This drastically reduces the residual risk of transfusion-transmitted infections to less than 1 in 1–2 million donations for HIV and HCV, with marked improvement for HBV as well. Overall, ID-NAT ensures the highest level of blood safety compared to serology alone.

If you test positive, our team will reach out to provide you with support and guidance. We believe in compassionate care and will help you understand your options moving forward.

You don’t need to do any special preparation for an ID-NAT.

Here’s what usually applies:

  • No fasting is required – you can eat and drink normally.

  • No medication restrictions – regular medicines don’t affect the test.

  • Simple blood draw – a sample is collected from your vein like in routine blood tests.
